Main Task Filming Review

MAIN TASK FILMING DATES

Weather on filming dates

Friday 8th February

Location: Clissold Park Stoke Newington

Filmed long and medium shots of main character running past the camera which you see in the film. As well as this, filmed establishing shot and wide shots.

Wednesday 13th February

Location: Clissold Park Stoke Newington

Nile riding a bike filmed tracking shots of protagonists feet running to feature right at the beginning of our film to show that my character was actually moving. Also filmed shaky cam point of view shot with protagonist running with the camera and looking at Nile as he ran past.

Friday 15th February

Loction: Stamford Hill

Filmed protagonist running inside the house doing the match on action through both sets of doors and running up the stairs to the flat. Filmed establishing shot of block of flats that was left out of the final cut. While inside we filmed dialogue between protagonist and sister using the lights and microphone that we brought with us. In doing this we used an over the shoulder shot, shot reverse shot and had to be aware of the 180 degree rule. Most of the dialogue was left out as the sound and image quality was unsatisfactory. We filmed the knocking of the hand on the door and  reaction shot of protagonist. Filmed high angle shot of protagonist looking up as he opened door to imply that he is below the antagonist. Filmed antagonist but then decided that he shouldn't be included in the final cut so protagonist remained anonymous to build mystery and suspense common to thrillers. Filmed close up/Cut in of antagonist's hand when he knocked on the door.

Ideas for Main Task

For my main task which I am doing with Daniel and Nile we are researching three ideas.

Coming of Age (Party scene)

My idea is to shoot the first 2 minutes of our main task incorporating ideas used in the examples below. For example point of view shots, blurry camera shots, shaky camera, flashes, smoky atmosphere, slow motion etc. See examples below:

Example:
Misfits season 4 episode 6 (first 10 minutes)

Etta Bond resolve (music video): http://sbtv.co.uk/2013/01/etta-bond-resolve-music-video/

The Long Take: Goodfellas: http://youtu.be/OJEEVtqXdK8

The lobng take between 0:27-0.50 in particulary so we can set the scene and show main characters greeting people in party.
Project X: http://youtu.be/dQjJrBoIO0E

Action movie (Free Running scene) [Written by Daniel]

An Action scene can be exciting as there are alot of fast cuts and editing and overall just lot to shoot.m a free running scene will be very hard as we need to think about where we could set the scene and the storyline.

My idea is to shoot the first few minutes of a free running scene and I have been inspired by these three movies:

Examples:
James Bond Casino Royale: http://youtu.be/I9ZimqdKaPA
District 13: http://youtu.be/G9n38Otr1ig
Takers: http://youtu.be/g78B8Bs0bHE

Rom-com [Written by Nile]

I've been researching the Rom-com film genre; the movies i've been looking at are the following:

Friends with Benefits:

Just Go With It: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz5Ubqhru7g&safe=active

She's Out of My League: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6M9UfytUPM&safe=active

Crazy Stupid Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK68Y3oMEk8&safe=active
____________________________UPDATED________________________________
After a debate with my fellow team members we couldn't decide on what genre to pick. Consequently, we decided to ask 60 students aged between 16-18 what genre they prefer. The results of this can be seen below:

Produced by Daniel
As revealed by the pie chart, the action genre won therefore we have decided to film an action thriller.
